Weight Watchers has been around a long time and you may have tried it in the past. If you are not familiar with, or you are new to Weight Watchers; you are in luck. The Freestyle program is the most versatile program Weight Watchers has offered to date. You can literally eat what you want as long as you stay within your allotted points for the day. Thanks to their amazing Free Points List, it is super easy to stay full and be within your points. Just remember, even though the items are on the free points list, those items still have calories so do not overindulge.
How to Be Successful On Weight Watchers
Remember that Weight Watchers isn't a fad diet; it is a lifestyle change. It does not happen overnight and it may not even happen in a month. It takes time, dedication, and focus. If you need an extra push from a group of very supportive people, join our Freestyle Recipes and Support Facebook Group. You will have access to all the tip, recipes, and support to get you through your journey big or small.
TAKE YOUR MEASUREMENTS
Most people that start out to lose weight are obsessed with the numbers on the scale. The scale can be your best friend or your worst nightmare so it is important to not let it get the best of you. When you start out on Weight Watchers, take your measurements. More than likely you will have a gain on the scale at some point but your pants or bra will fit differently. Taking your measurements will give you a leg up in this long distance journey. You will thank me later, I promise.
DRINK YOUR WATER
This was SUPER hard for me in the beginning; especially when I had been living off sweet tea for years. Not only does your body need water to help all your organs function correctly but it also helps keep your body full in between meals. If you do not like the flavor of plain water, flavor it up. You can do fruit infused waters that help with detoxing or even try some Crystal Light On The Go packets. My new favorite water cup is the Contigo Autoclose Shake & Go.
Exercise…Not Extra Fries!
Everyone hates to hear the dreaded “E” word, BUT you do not have to be one of those hit it hard at the gym types. Start off easy with a walk to the mailbox followed by a walk to the street corner and before you know it you will be walking a mile at a time. Park at the end of the parking lot, you are going to be walking the whole store anyway, right? If you are comfortable hitting the gym, check out the small local owned gyms. I love staying local because I know I am not going to drive 20-30 minutes to exercise for an hour, plus it helps your community.
Pair Up With a Friend
More than likely you have a friend or a family member that is also looking to make a change. See if they are interested in working together and holding each other accountable. Maybe they will hit the gym with you or meet at a local park for a walk. If you do not have anyone interest, check out the Freestyle Recipes & Support Facebook group to see if there is anyone in your area that wants to buddy up.
ADD MORE FIBER TO YOUR DAY
Fiber is SO important and thanks to Weight Watchers Zero Point List you can add it to your daily meals without sacrificing points. Some easy zero point ideas are raspberries, blackberries, peas, lentils, and broccoli. Just don't forget while you are adding in extra fiber to make sure you're drinking your water too. Keep that body running smoothly!
Plan Ahead and Grocery Lists
The easiest way to make your Weight Watchers journey go smoothly is to plan ahead! Meal planning can be tedious in the beginning while you are still trying to wrap your brain around this new way of life but eventually, it will come hand in hand. Start by planning for the week, make your grocery list, and stick to it when you go to the store. If you have time one day a week, prep the items for the week so you are not scrambling to find a meal. Eating on the fly can be so hard in the beginning and is only setting you up for failure. Invest in some snack size baggies and portion out your favorite snacks for the week.
I truly hope these ideas help you through your Weight Watchers journey! If you have anything to add, feel free to leave a comment below. I'd love to hear what works for you.
